Join us in observing National Nonprofit Day on August 17th!
This day is an opportunity to acknowledge the work of organizations dedicated to creating change and celebrate the positive impact they have on diverse communities. In this post, learn about our mission at Stigma-Free Mental Health Society, our incredible supporters, and how you can become a part of our movement to create a stigma-free world.
The Importance of Mental Health Education
Mental health is an essential part of our overall well-being and directly affects all of us. Yet, stigma and misconceptions surrounding mental illness are prevalent and can prevent people from reaching out for help. Our charity provides no-cost mental health education to break down stigma, focusing on two key populations: school and rural communities.
The Stigma-Free School Program
Our Stigma-Free School Program teaches students and young people about mental health, empowering them to speak openly, adopt a stigma-free perspective, and seek support when needed. Our resources equip school staff and parents/guardians to deliver mental health education with ease and confidence.
The Rural Mental Wellness Program
Mental health resources are often scarce in rural areas, leaving residents feeling isolated and unsupported. Our Rural Mental Wellness Program addresses this gap, providing tailored resources and Rural Peer Support Fundamentals Training to ensure access to mental health education and training.
Real Impact, Real Stories
Don’t just take our word for it! Here is what educators and students are saying about our Stigma-Free School Program:
“The most impactful part of the presentation was the tool kit because I can use this in my daily life to help me with my mental health and others who may be struggling with mental illness.”
-Grade 10 student on our Virtual Stigma-Free Presentations and Student Mental Health Toolkit
“I think sharing of personal stories was really impactful because it demonstrated how it is OK to talk about these things. It reduces stigma around the mental health topic.”
-Educator on our Virtual Stigma-Free Presentations
