Social Media Marketer and Graphic Designer

Role Description:

Reporting to the Operations and Engagement Manager, this role involves creating and implementing a social media strategy for the Stigma-Free Mental Health Society. In order to help the charity grow on a national scale, the social media marketer will be responsible for ensuring more hits on websites, growing social media channels with engagement, and will execute the promotion of resources online. Alongside creating and implementing social media and marketing strategies, this role involves creating social media assets and other design elements in Canva such as reports, ads and graphics.

The tasks will be assigned at the President or Operations Manager’s sole discretion, and the contractor will keep a detailed online log of tasks within their Time Sheet and share this with the President on a monthly basis.

NOTE: This is not an employment position. This opportunity is of contract nature, and the successful contractor will be responsible for all work SafeBC premiums, CPP, EI contributions and remitting their own tax installments

Qualifications:

  • Education whether a certificate, diploma or degree in relevant field such as Graphic Design, Marketing, or equivalent experience
  • Comfortable using different technological platforms, such as SharePoint, Outlook, Microsoft Office, Buffer, and Canva
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational ability
  • Interest/experience in mental health is an asset; prefer knowledge
  • Understanding of mental health in rural communities is an asset
  • Understanding of mental health challenges facing youth is an asset

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Evaluating current social media marketing strategy and implementing changes to improve engagement
  • Promoting the charity on social media channels
  • Creation of social media content that meets our charity’s standards
  • Research new ways to expand the charity nationally
  • Creation of promotional assets using graphic design on Canva
  • Scheduling of promotional assets on Buffer two weeks ahead of posting
  • Drafting and executing ad campaigns in Facebook and other platforms
  • Designing ads for traditional media when needed
  • Formatting of online resources for the charity’s mental health toolkit resources (training e is provided)
  • Formatting and designing documents (i.e. reports, request for proposals, manuals, downloadable resources etc.)
  • Social media engagement for the purposes of program uptake
  • Social media engagement on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok (not limited to)

○ Comment, Like and Share on Partner’s posts
○ Archive outdated posts
○ Replying promptly to direct messages with review from the President

General Requirements for Role:

  • Strong internet connection
  • Use of own technology (laptop) with ability to use Zoom and Microsoft Teams
  • It is preferred that candidates have Microsoft office/PC but using a Mac will be considered if candidate already has Microsoft office on their platform. This is non-negotiable.

Financial Compensation: $32 per hour

Hours: 30 per week
