Presentations are live online or in-person sessions for students. The most powerful way to combat stigma is by listening to others’ lived experiences. In each session, our presenters share their journeys with stigma and mental health. Our presenters have unique inspiring stories that are sure to leave a lasting impact on teachers and students alike.
Now more than ever, education around mental health and other stigmas is vital. Mental health stigma prevents young people from reaching out for help when they need it.
Our in-person presentations launched in schools in 2010, and we have reached over 75,000 students. We adapted our former presentations to reach more youth and provide mental health education virtually. Both experiences enable schools to educate students about various stigmas, especially those that surround mental illness.
How Does It All Work?
Stigma-Free Mental Health Society’s presentation program offers LIVE virtual sessions via an online platform and in-person sessions for students, where a presenter shares about their journey with stigma and the intersecting mental health issues they have faced. The program also provides a co-presenter who facilitates and applies their informed knowledge on mental health using educational slides. Virtual presentations are 45 minutes while in-person are 1 hour in length.

What Educators Are Saying About Our Stigma-Free Presentations:
I have worked with Stigma-Free Society for many years and have welcomed numerous presenters from all sorts of backgrounds into my classroom. The presenters are always well prepared, open, and generous with their time and the sharing of their experiences. Their visits spark meaningful and memorable discussions with my students and are a highlight of the term.

Stigma-Free Presentations are generally offered by donation to Stigma-Free Mental Health.
In past years, schools and/or districts have made a donation to the Society for receiving a presentation at their school. However, the Society recognizes that a donation is not always possible, and presenters can present on a no-cost basis.
Participating schools can gain full access to the Student Mental Health Toolkit. This valuable hub of resources provides access to a robust and engaging documentary series that is offered as part of the Stigma-Free Presentations.
The Stigma-Free Presentations also include access to an Educator’s Guide, Student Activities, Mental Wellness Lesson Plans, downloadable resources and much more!
