Meet Brian

Kind. Determined. Patient

Strengths:

When I was younger, I was bullied and had problems at home. This led to lots of anger issues, depression, and chronic anxiety for years. As I got older, I began reflecting and working on myself, particularly with forgiveness. I began overcoming my anxiety, anger and depression through constructive methods and hobbies such as working in nature. I began mental health advocacy as a hobby in Vancouver and spoke with people from all walks in life. I realized how common mental health issues are and how most of these issues are hidden, which makes things worse. Raising awareness, compassion, and listening to people are all skills I learned that are powerful tools for healing.

Presentation Topics:

Mental health, Anxiety, Depression, Low self-esteem, Anger issues.

3 ways to describe your talk:

Hi, my name is Brian. I studied Anthropology and Environmental Studies in University and I’m a mental health advocate. Over the years, I’ve done tree planting and ecology work, and I try to mix both nature and mental health since spending time outdoors benefits health in general.
